Make them work!

There're a lot of programmes that can use MS Office spell checking libraries via CSAPI (Common Speller API). But there's a CSAPI documentation only for MS Office 97 and 2000 libraries.

MS Office XP comes with new CSAPI libraries, and they are not documented, so programmers cannot use them :(

But they still implementing support for old CSAPI libraries from Office 97/2000. How do you think - is it possible to separate these libraries from Office package? YES!

Here you can download and install a spell checking support for a lot of programmes. Note, there's no conflicts with already installed Office XP. And you DO NOT NEED to install these packages if you have MS Office 97/2000 installed.
